Porcelain Tea Sets

Porcelain tea sets is made of porcelain clay (mainly kaolin). It was invented and used after ceramic tea sets. Porcelain requires a higher baking temperature than ceramics. At 1200℃,the porcelain body becomes solid and compact. Coated with glaze, the porcelain surface does not absorb water or give any peculiar smell and can be easily washed clean. Porcelain has beautiful design and exquisite decoration and can better retain the color, aroma, and taste of the tea. In addition, porcelain can properly preserve heat. It does not burn your hand or crack under heat. It is the most widely used tea set.

Based on the color of the glaze, porcelain tea set can be divided into celadon tea sets, white porcelain tea sets, black pcirceiain tea sets and faience tea sets.

Ceramic Tea Sets

Made of pottery clay, ceramic tea set was one of the earliest tea sets made and used by human. At first, the coarse pottery was used. Later, the more solid hard pottery took the place. Then, the glazed pottery and purple sand pottery prevailed. Ceramic tea set had played an important role in human tea drinking history. However, it was gradually phased out by porcelain tea set. In recent years, ceramic tea set has regained some popularity with the rise of the tea ceremony performance.

Of all ceramic tea sets, the purple-clay tea set is the most famous. Made of pottery clay, the purple-clay contains rich iron. People praise it as the best of the clay and the best of the rock. It is refined, brightly colored, and highly ductile. As it should be made in a temperature between 1000℃ and 1200℃, the finished product is dense and leak-proof. Its surface is smooth and even, but with a sandy effect shown by some small particles. In fact, there are invisible pores on the purple-clay, which guarantee good adsorption and air permeability. It can adsorb tea soup and retain tea taste, making it a perfect tea set. Even in the hottest summer, the tea in the purple-clay tea set can remain fresh after being left overnight.
